In the end I went with build an offline search engine!
I have been using this app pdfsearch.app for a while.
It's amazing for quick knowledge retrieval.
Downsides are it works only on Mac, so my friends on Windows can't use it.
OpenBook will work on all platforms (probably gonna just use Electron).
It also has one additional feature
- Search the internet for keywords in your folder
- With this, we can truly own on open book exams

Feel like actually building some of the ideas now
